ORIENTATION

Quito is located between two mountain ranges, at 2.800 metres or about 10.000 feet high. The city is approximately divided into three parts: the Old City at the centre, and then the Southern and Northern parts.

Quito's Old City has an incredibly rich colonial (and independence) era architecture and heritage, boasting an incredible number of churches, convents, squares and monasteries. It's an amazing quarter to stroll around, with superb museums and lots of restaurants and terrace cafes. The modern northern Quito has many tourist facilities with urban parks, new restaurants and nightclubs.

HOW TO GET THERE

Mariscal Sucre International Airport is located around 8km from Quito. The best way to get to the city centre is by taxi.

TRAVELLING AROUND

The most important and easiest public transport systems to travel around the city are the Trolebus, la Ecovía and Metrobus. Taxis and buses are also a good option.
