ORIENTATION
Pisa is a city in Tuscany, located in the centre of Italy, sting on the bank of the Arno River, close to the Ligurian Sea. The historic centre of Pisa is approximately in the shape of a square, surrounded by 12th-century walls. The River Arno crosses the city from east to west, dividing it into two parts: Tramontana (north) and Mezzogiorno (south). The Field of Miracles, with the famous LeaningTower – is positioned at the north-western end of the old city.
BEST TIME TO GO
June is a good month to visit Pisa. Many events take place, like the amazing street festival called Luminara. The Christmas markets in December also give a special and magic atmosphere to the city, really worth visiting.
HOW TO GET THERE
Pisa Airport "Galileo Galilei” is served by several airlines including low cost. The airport is very close to the city centre. It is even possible to walk to the centre, which takes around 20 minutes.
Pisa Airport is directly connected every 30 minutes to Pisa Central Station by a direct shuttle train service.
By bus, the Compagnia Pisana Trasporti connects the Airport to Pisa’s city centre every 10 minutes. A taxi ride to the city centre will cost around 6-8 Euro.
