Located on the northern side of Cuba and surrounding a natural quay, Havana (La Habana) the capital city, is one of the most colourful and vibrant Caribbean cities. Much of the city's allure can be seen among the narrow, decaying streets crowded with old buildings and friendly people.

ORIENTATION
The historic old town, Old Havana (Habana Vieja), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its magnificent colonial Spanish architecture. The city centre (Centro Habana) has some of the most important museums and other architectural places of interest. The trendy neighbourhood of Vedado boasts modern buildings and hotels, and attracts the visitors with some theatres, art galleries, restaurants, cafes, live music bars and cabaret shows. Nevertheless most of the Havana's tourist attractions are without a doubt, located in Habana Vieja and Centro Habana. The known Malecón, a seaside boulevard, extends from Vedado to Habana Vieja and is a great place to walk around and discover some more precious monuments.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Havana is between December and April, since this is the dry season with lower temperatures, but less humidity. The warm and damp season runs from May till November and the hurricane season starts from June to November.
HOW TO GET THERE
Jose Marti International Airport is the most important gateway to the country.
An official taxi to Havana centre costs is about 25 CUC. There is also a bus service from the Terminal One that travels to La Habana centre.

The easiest way to get around Havana is by taxi. Coco Taxis and yellow three wheel motorbikes are a cheap and fun way of getting around the city centre.
