ORIENTATION
In the capital, Sao Tome, is worth visiting the San Sebastian Fortress, the Cathedral of the Holy See, the Presidential Palace, the Historical Archive, as well as other buildings of baroque inspiration.
WHEN TO GO
Situated next to Ecuador, Sao Tome has average temperatures ranging between 22 and 30 degrees centigrade. The temperature varies with altitude (2024 meters at the peak of St. Thomas) and rainfall, and feature a high density of moisture, often exceeding 75 percent. The year is characterized by two seasons: The rainy season (October to May), with high temperatures and tropical storms and "Gravana" (June to September), more gently, but usually covered with sky.
HOW TO GET THERE
By plane, semalmente from Lisbon (5 h flight with TAP) and Luanda (TAAG), four times a week from Libreville, Gabon (Air Sao Tome and Principe) and inter-island four times per week (Air Sao Tome and Principe). There are travel packages but they are not cheap.
GETTING AROUND
The state of the roads is deplorable and to desocar S. Thomas only by jeep. The roads are very poor, and are on dirt tracks or mountain trails.
